We Believe
…Grief and mourning are the most natural and necessary reactions when someone you love dies.
…Children grieve and mourn regardless of age.
…Children naturally know how to mourn but many times are not permitted to do so by our culture.
…Every child's grief experience is individual and unique - there are no deadlines and no right ways to mourn.
…Children have the natural ability to heal themselves in their own way and time when they are provided an environment to freely express themselves. They are the teachers. We are here to walk with and learn from them as they journey through their grief.
…Our purpose is not to "cure" or "treat" bereaved children but to create a safe, loving environment where they are allowed to share their feelings and mourn. We do not seek to rescue children from their pain but promise to be by their side.
…Peer support groups provide a sense of belonging for children and help normalize the grief process.
…MargaretAnn's Place is a safe place for kids to embrace their pain in manageable "doses," allowing for children to distract themselves from the pain of loss while at other times giving them a safe refuge to embrace their loss. This is done within the company of their own peers - who better!?
