Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are the heart of MargaretAnn's Place and are the key to its continuing success. Many opportunities exist for those who want to work directly with the children and their families and for those who want to participate in other ways.
Volunteer Peer Support/Education Group Facilitators
Facilitators are paired with children in their peer support groups.
Their goal is to provide a safe environment that allows for the children to express themselves. All volunteers are required to complete 12 hours of training that covers the needs of grieving children, characteristics of the grief process, effective listening and communication skills that support a child's grieving process, and an awareness of one's own feelings about death and grief. Facilitators work as a team to ensure grieving children experience a safe and accepting place.
Helping Hands Volunteers
Helping hands volunteers make sure everything runs smoothly during the program night. Their assistance is invaluable as it allows the volunteers to meet in pre-group and spend time with the children and families before and after group. They can also provide much needed childcare for those under the age of 3, or they may assist in the craft/activity in some of the younger children's groups.
Administrative & Fundraising Volunteers
Administrative volunteers assist with office duties such as mailings, data entry, filing, answering the phone, etc. Fundraising volunteers assist with the organizing and implementation of fundraising events such as invitations, decorations, silent auction, sponsorships, etc.
